Attach structural columns to roof and add to group

Hello.

I try to create a group of repetitive geometry.

I want to add the yellow highlighted columns and concrete roof to the blue highlighted group.

Until now I have understood that if first attach the columns to the roof and after adding all to the group it works, and the geometry is added to the other instances of the group.

If firstly add the geometry to the group, and inside the group try to attach the columns to the roof, then the columns are not attached to the roof on the other instances.

I don't know why but my findings after trial and error.

But in this specific set I have problems only with the right columns. I attach all columns to the roof and then I try to add them to the group and I get error.

If I add only the left columns with the roof the group works.

Can anyone imagine why?

Thanks

My thoughts are that it is something to do with 'instance parameter values varies between groups' Since this is a built-in parameter so perhaps can't support that concept you have with other types of parameters varying between groups. If the group is defined then that parameter value exists in the group type as one value state so when you change it elsewhere it can't vary from that.

That seems like the most obvious reason but it could still easily be the wrong reason, just a hunch based analysis of the problem at hand.

I remove all the parts that are attached to this and some other roofs that exist in the group, detach all elements from the roofs, and attach them again. Then I added them all again in the group and now it works.

When removing one by one some elements in the problematic area, I get messages that some relationships between elements have gone. I am not sure if that has happened before, but in Revit 2024 the software creates a lot of relationships between elements, even if I don't want to. For example, if I create just 4 walls and then create a floor snapping or picking the edges of the walls, without locking the sketch lines of the floor in those walls, if I move a wall the floor follows. That's not what expected. I would expect that only if I had locked the sketch lines in the walls.

Is there a way to prevent Revit from creating automatic relationships between elements?

Thanks

You question on relationships and behaviors in Revit between elements is a long standing one and has been raised frequently, i am sure there are some links on the Ideas Community where you can vote on this subject.
