Associate Type Parameter Button Missing In Nested Families

Using Revit 2023, and this is nested families type parameters. All the associate parameter buttons are missing. The parameters are not driven by formulas. I've seen this a few times, not sure what causes it. Any ideas?

That button is available for instance parameters in the nested family, not type parameters.

That is what I found on many forum posts, however, this is not true. See the example below, this is a door family with a nested frame family. As you see, I have a few type parameters associated.

If the nested family is set to shared, then those parameter will not appear unless you set them as instance parameter.

It works with type parameters for some categories, such as windows, profiles, and doors as you mentioned. But for general purposes, if you want to associate parameters from a nested family with parameters in a host, use instance parameters in the nested family.

Well, that's the way it is. I am just telling you what I've seen. Life is not perfect.

The GIF is an allusion to a theory that life is not perfect because two different developer teams were partaking in recreational activities which made them forget to communicate with each other.

I could be wrong though, maybe there is a good reason that justifies this... It just seems like sloppy seconds. 

I do appreciate the response though, would've never guessed 🙂 Drove me crazy for a bit, glad I finally looked in to it

Yes nested shared family type parameter cannot tie them to current family parameter unless you set the nested family parameter as instance parameter. There is a reason why they did this. Since nested shared family will appear in the project browsers, it would be counter intuitive if the type family is tied to another family.
