Adding hidden parameter groups to categories....

I discovered this was possible using Dynamo...

I was able to add a Area grouping (PG_AREA) to Rooms. Bug or feature?

You can't do that manually through the Revit UI.

Sure would be useful as "Dimensions" is a rather gross and inappropriate grouping for Room areas.

The new group and parameter should appear in the properties pallet of the elements of the assigned categories.

It's just that PG_AREA is not a user-accessible category from the project parameters dialog. It's only accessible via the API.

I'm not sure if this is really a bug or a feature, however I'm sure there is a reason that not all of the BuiltInParameterGroup groups are not visible through the Revit UI.

Nope. Not listed, as are many of the other Parameter Groups.

Yet, I could pull any of them into the Room list.

What version of revit are you running? Are you adding Type or Instance parameters?

I added an instance parameter to the room category and got this in my properties pallet:

I was using Revit 2019 in this instance.

The parameter was instance based and added using Python script within Dynamo.
