Nest a Shared Light Family  into another Light Family (the "Host")  and then load and place an instance of the "Host" Family in the Project.  Now TAB-Select on the "Host" Family to select the Nested Light Fixture, and once it's selected you will be able to edit the Photometrics of the Nested Light Fixture (and any other of its Properties)  independently of the Host Light Fixture.  Two Light Fixtures in one.  That is what you are after; right?

Accepted solution
- Create a light family (A), set it to Shared, add the IES
- Create another light family (B), load (A) in, place it twice (or mirror, copy, whatever works)
- Load (B) in project

BTW: it's not necessary that the Nested Shared Light Fixture Family have anything more in it than the light source.

Hi,
when importing the photometric file it positions itself into a weird angle and also i am unable to pin the imported photometric file to the light (family).

You want it aimed upwards?  Change the Tilt Angle.

Sorry i have 1 and hopefully last question.

Is there  away of combining the photometric files as 1 ? the reason I am asking is because I need to have right details for the calculationsCapture.JPG

Sure. Don't Share the Nested Light Family. Just associate its Photometric Parameters to the Host Photometric Parameters. You'll need a second Tilt Angle in the Host to control the angle of the Nested Family, if that's important.  Or just tilt it and leave its Tilt Angle unassociated.

Hi. Is there a way to link the photometric file of the nested lighting family, to a second Photometric link in the Host family? In another word, is it possible to have two "Photometric Web File" parameter which each can be linked to a different Photometric file?

Not sure I understand. You can Nest Shared Families into a Parent Family and independently modify the Photometrics of each Nested Shared Family in the Project.  That sounds like what you are after.

Thank you for your answer, but no. I want to link the "Photometric Web File" of both nested families (A & B) to a "Photometric Web File A" and "Photometric Web File B" parameter in the host family. So, I will be able to make a Family Catalogue in which I put all the different configurations for different Photometric files. The thing is there is only one "Photometric Web File" parameter in a BIM file parameter window which is "Built-in" parameter. Is there a way that I can make two of them? I hope I could explain it well!
