Adaptive component, planar surface

Hi, everyone.

I have a simple question regarding Adaptive components. How to make 4 point planar surface, so that surfaces XY plane follows 2 points and all other cornes follow adaptive points (orange circles)? Please see attached image and family.  Plane follows when I move points 3 and 1, but constraints breaks when i move points 2 and 4adaptive.jpg

Hi @atis.sed,

Thank you for your post, a detailed description of the problem with the screenshot and the attached family. This allowed me to understand exactly the problem you are struggling with. Here is the answer to your question:

  1. Build the 4 adaptive points
  2. Build the offset points by hosting them to points 1 & 3's XY plane, and setting the offset parameter
  3. Draw a spline from offset point 1 to offset point 3
  4. Draw a spline from point 2 to point 4
  5. Host points on the crossing splines at the start and end of the lines, setting their location by parameter from endpoint or dimension to end point.
  6. Draw reference lines from spline hosted point 1 to spline hosted point 2 to spline hosted point 3 to spline hosted point 4 to spline hosted point 1
  7. Make a surface from the points
  8. Flex all 4 adaptive points in every direction at each step to confirm you didn't miss a step

In the attachment I send you a correctly created family based on the above steps. If my information proved to be helpful and solving your problem, please accept this post as Solution.
