Self Illumination is a section in assets prior to Revit 2019. But it isn't there in the new assets. How do we achieve self illumination with the new assets? I don't want to use the legacy assets.
This is the legacy asset

You realize that Self illumination only makes an object appear to glow. No light is actually cast.
Yes, that is exactly what I want. This is for exit sign text illumination.
Check the appearance library. There are other (PBR) appearance assets which have an emisivity parameter

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
It is a legacy thing… but there had to be some sort of replacement in the new assets, as it is an important feature in certain applications such as illuminated signage. Thankfully, emissivity is the new way.
Self-Illumination is not a physical material property. That was my point. The new materials are PBR.
You may find this AU presentation useful:
Self-illumination is not in the PBR materials. Emissivity is. That very handout shows it on a PBR material on page 8 (opaque material).
I don't disagree. But Emissivity is not Self-Illumination. Your original question was : "How do we achieve self illumination with the new assets?" Maybe I just read it too literally. No biggie.
Have a good one.
