Hi!

1- what would be the best practice for storing sheets? in Standard formats according to sizes and different phases? or broken seperately as title blocks and paper layouts?

2- is it possible to create a print size which is cutomisable on the spot, without having to create and save as a new family?

Thanks!

  1. Sheet format: It is possible to associate the length and width of the sheet to an instance parameter which you can change on the spot when loaded into the project.
    • We use this for Custom / Non-Standard size sheets
    • For standard DIN formats it is more practical to use either predefined types. ie: 1 family could have various Formats A0->A? Hence, the different families, if not always a must, are required at one point or the other
    • When you use custom size Sheet with instance parameters you need to not the fact that in a title block family there are no Reference planes. You can hack in a reference plane but it is not guaranteed that it will behave the same. Therefore you need to watch out how you lock and constrain the Labels and fields on the Title block so that things don't become haywire every time you change the value of the length and width.
  2. Browser sheet organization: For International projects we follow the BS; However, the most commonly used sorting for our local projects goes in the following order -
    • Design Option
    • Discipline - Fach (Arch/Einrichtung/Tragwerk/K&L/BLP...etc)
    • Ansichtstyp (Allg. & legende/Grundrisse/Deckenpläne/Ansichten/Schnitte/Lagepläne/Wandansichten...etc
    • Laufendenummer
    • Index (V/F)

By Phase I assume you are referring to the HOAI Leistungsphasen (in particular 1 to 5). These are better referred to as the Design Stages rather than phases. You can add an additional Browser Sorting parameter for the LPH. We stopped using this because such sheets become redundant and practically useless once you move to the following LPH. Once we are done with the Vorentwurf all sheets are Indexed and archeived in PDF in the cloud.
