About constraint dimension direction control

i create 4 ref plan and make 3 constraint dimensions between them, if i change the constraint dimensions value , the right side 4 stayed still , while  ref plan 1 2 3 will move left, but if  ref plan 1 locked, any change to constraint  B or C would cause an error .

how to control the direction of constraint dimension?

dimension from a strong reference to a weak reference. make sure reference plane one is pinned down. dimensions from that reference plane to the right.

Make sure only ONE out of the four ref planes is pinned, and none of the parameters (A, B, C) are locked.

if the bottom ref plan is locked, and  global parameter C  can't be changed.

Behavior of reference planes in the Project environment is not the same as in Family environment

I am not sure why you need such global parameters (we rarely use them for labeling Dimensions - and mostly to label parameters ) but you might want to consider a different approach ... such as

Option A: A guide Family

  1. building that relationship in a family
  2. and then using the pick line tool, you can snap objects/families to the reference planes from the Guide Family

Option B - Use Grids instead of Reference Planes (See GIF below - PS: You can create a new type without the bubble)

thanks a lot. plant b is what i want

i wanna create a house include many "rectangle" rooms  , the length and width of the rooms can be changed with global parameters . something like parametric house.

At first, i try to lock the wall to ref plan,  but some error  occur,as u can see the questions above .
