I've a couple of issues which I'm hoping someone can help with:

Firstly I have a question regarding a dormer cutout.  "conveniently" there is a wall right at the point the dormer roof meets the roof and the resulting cutout not only cuts the roof but the wall under it too...

The red outline shows what I describe.  Looking at the dormer profile:

I believe I want to select the red line on the left hand side of the wall but if I try and choose this, I get the error message as above.  If I select the only line it will allow me to select, the pink line on the right hand side of the wall, then I get the cutout in the wall as well.

What do I do here?

Secondly, what is the correct procedure for finishing off the outer wall of this chimney:

As far as i'm aware I cannot choose a sloping wall to start from and then set the top constraint to the top of the chimney????

Once I have the side of the chimney, what is the correct way to cap off and add chimney pots?  Are they available as a family or do you have to create these yourself?

Thirdly, are there any issues with the walls at the end of this building:

Why does this occur?  Is is due to the way i've built it or is it just a rendering issue?  It seems to happen quite a lot in various walls so I'm curious whether I need to be concerned (other than they look awful!!)

RE: #3 Use the Wall Join Tool on the Modify Tab.  Cycle through some joins. Might try Miter. 

RE: #2 Split the Wall and raise the Top Constraint of that portion of wall.  As for the roof at the portion, you could "split" the roof sketch into 2 separate sketches. Or, you could just Join the roof with the Wall with the correct Join Order.  That would probably remove all of the roof at that Portion of Wall.  

RE: #1 I'm not really following. You don't see a "Dormer" condition. I just see it as another roof.  Maybe a slightly pitched shed roof joined to the main roof.

#3: tried the wall join command as suggested however it would not let me change the join. 

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact the walls are attached to a roof (hidden in the below screencast).

#2: cut the wall as suggested and attached to top of chimney. All works however there are some rendering issues with the bricks all looking out of alignment - I believe this to be cosmetic.

I'm not sure you can do much about that?

Use a vertical cut opening instead of a dormer opening.

Did you join the wall and roof?  Play with join order?  Well, the other option I spoke of, was creating two roofs. Clipboard Copy and Paste Align to Same Spot the Roof you have, then edit boundary of one copy to remove the sketch linework that portion of roof from the high side of the chimney pop-out down to the eave, and then edit the other boundary to remove all the sketch linework except for that portion of roof that starts at the eave and stops at the chimney pop-out.

Here is a similar configuration with a single roof.  Complication not found Ma.

No it is a sing roof with a simple rectangular footprint.

So you cut away part of the roof with the wall. That was my first suggestion.

Is this screenshot (message #5) a rendering? Doesn't really look like one. But if is, you might be able to correct misalignment by playing around with the Image/Texture Position Offset.  Also, are your Walls ends set to Allow Join and are they sized correctly? No overlap? Are you using the Join Geometry tool?

Sincerest apologies for not replying sooner.... many issues going on.

However in answer to your question regarding the wall, I tried the joining geometry tool and it did not let me select both walls so that didn't work.  This also prevented me from using the join order.

They are also set to allow join.

I did manage to get the roof sorted using a vertical cutout instead of the dormer as suggested 🙂

I've started a fresh project just to see if I can get this end wall sorted and this is still an issue with just three walls and a roof.

It must be the way I'm constructing it but it doesn't give me any options whatsoever for wall joins...
