2019.1 Recent Files list not updating correctly

We have multiple computers running Revit 2019.1, where the recent files list (both home screen and file menu) are not updating the projects after applying the patch.  It worked great on 2019 prior to the .1 patch.  We don't use worksets on our projects, so this is not a central file vs. local file issue.

Any ideas for fixes are appreciated!

Ike

I'm having the same issue, recently opened files not showing up on the homepage, and so far none of the solutions here help me either. Is anybody on the development team looking into this issue?

Hi @Anonymous

Yes we have development looking into this issue.

Let us know if this happens on local models, or workshared models.

We will require a date set from you end for further diagnosis. See Revit - Collecting and sending diagnostic data to Autodesk Technical Support

It will be great if you can send us some screenshots and a screencast like @ArmandD

This will help in further diagnosis.

Regards,

This happens on both file types, all files saved locally on my machine. Here are the steps:

1.  Open file

2. Make changes and save and close

3. The file does not show up in my recent files

Screencast link is included.

Just chiming in. I have been trying to keep an eye on every thing that I do to see what causes the bug and haven't found any solid reason yet. At first I thought it was renaming a file and therefore its entry on the landing page was removed. This would cause one of the default sample projects to take the last spot on the list. Sometimes this would trigger the list not updating but other times it wouldn't. I have been "cleaning" my revit.ini file when the list stops updating and starting from scratch to get things working again (albeit with no previous file history). Another behavior I have noted is some entries will just vanish from the "recents" landing page while they still show up in the revit.ini. Those pesky three default sample projects of course make their way back on the landing page. My workday usually consists of hopping between 10 or so projects (and their nested projects) so I can easily load up the recents lists with "new" entries.  Oddly enough sometimes when I open Revit, the Recent Files landing page is down to four or so projects in addition to the three defaults. I hope ANY of this information I have provided helps to uncover the issue as having a broken file history list is obnoxious when bouncing between multiple projects a day.

I saved a file with no abnormal characters or spaces in the name to my desktop. Same issue. Still did not show up on the 'Home Page'.

dHi @ArmandD@isaac_hedberg@wobrien

Thanks for all the information, you've provided so far!

This issue is under investigation - and is in progress by the Revit home resource team.

We also want to know the below:

1) How many files are Revit models?

2) How may are Revit families and Revit templates?

3) Are there any older version models in the recent list.

4) do you use drag-drop or double-click directly?

Additionally, can you share the 12 files so that we can recreate your issue individually? You can upload to the same folder I've previously shared with you!

Appreciate your patience while this issue is in progress, and thanks!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Viveka, it seems that I don't have the upload option in the folder with my name anymore.

Thanks!

Hi @Viveka_CD

#1 & #2 are broken out in separate categories on my home screen and the answer for my recent files list changes multiple times a day.  The models section only shows the most recent 10 models.  Based on the extensions in the Revit.ini file I sent though: 12 are models, 2 are templates, and 1 is a family in the recent files list.

3.  Yes, if I were to guess 9 of the files were upgraded to 2019 at one point, probably 4 of those were a save as of the upgraded file rather than upgraded themselves.

4.  I assume this question is about opening files.  I either single-click on the home screen file or browse through the open menu to open projects.

Hi @isaac_hedberg

Thanks for the information and details!

I am not seeing your data-set in the shared folder. Can you please upload again or I can send you an alternate uplaod link.

Sorry, dealing with quite a few pressing deadlines at the moment. When I catch a break in my schedule I will be sure to upload a new user data dump.

Hi @Anonymous

Just checking back on your issue. We will re-create the issue based on your data-set, can you send across your files (recent files) and diagnostic data?

Also let us know if these are default families, sample files or default template files and upgraded files.

These are not default families or sample families. Templates never show in the recent files so that's not an issue. Some of the files are upgraded, but some of the upgraded files are already showing in the recent list, not sure why that would matter since it worked before. Are you asking me for my Revit files? I can send you a link to them in my A360 account but I won't post them here publicly. And to what diagnostic data are you referring?

I got a chance to finally upload some more user data dumps. I have been problem free (a week or so) ever since I cleaned out the revit.ini [Recent File List] section until today. I have been working in single user Revit projects (non-central) until this morning when I hopped into a work-shared project. Now the list is refusing to update again and the three default projects are back on the list (at the end of the full 10 project entries). I also happened to unload a *.rvt link within that project, made edits, saved, then reloaded it back in once done.

So, the trigger for me is either a central model or unloading and editing a linked file. I would also like to note that I opened the central model directly (not a local user file of the central) from the windows file explorer and saved my changes (this file was not on the recent list in Revit). I'll upload this latest user data dump marked with today's date. This central project file has been upgraded through multiple version or Revit all the way from 2015 and wasn't made a central model until Revit 2016. Again, I hope any of this helps otherwise cleaning the revit.ini is working for our office in the meantime.

I no longer have write access to the shared 360 folder. If I could get that changed I will upload those user data files. Thanks.
