So when you type text in the new text box, the curser moves one way and the text moves another!!!! What's up with that?!! It also greys out the text when you edit it. So much for new improvements.... Any fixes, please let me know.

Solved! Go to Solution.
The suite isn't it's own software; it's just an "umbrella" that contains various softwares. All the programs it contains are their own entities. Just download the Revit one.
Hi,
The text works ok if you edit from the Activate View
Go to Sheets and right click over drawing in title block to find activate view.

Sure hope this is really fixed. About to update. I did notice that the text issue is actually NOT mentioned in the list of fixes/enhancements for the service pack.
SP1 seems to have resolved the text issue, I haven't seen it happen since the update was applied to this workstation.
Yes, it is fixed for me too.
Now, it does still have an issue where if I highlight some or all of the text in a text box to edit it, it won't always respond. In other words, I'll highlight the text, start typing, or even hit "Del", but nothing happens - the highlighted text stays highlighted. But, it's only temporary. An "Esc" hit, then re-select and re-highlight, then it will edit. Just a little added aggravation is all.
Hi Trey,
Do you know if Autodesk is aware of this problem...
This character is center justified. In Revit 2016, when you shrink the text box, the character does not move, as expected. In Revit 2017, it does move!
I came across this after I commenced fixing my annotation families. I noticed that the horizontal movement was much more than expected. (I expected some due to the Revit 2017 updates) My text box was small and I have therefore attributed this difference in behaviour as the cause to why my text is moving more than expected.
I would be interested to know people's thoughts? Anyone else come across this?
I have Service Pack 2, and the text is still very glitchy. Here's a few things I'm finding:
1) When mirroring text in up/down configuration, justification changes to opposite side from original text. Not a deal breaker, but one more thing you have to manually fix when duplicating notes symmetrically around the view.
2) Content that is copied from one existing text and pasted into an existing text (to update a series of notes with new content, etc) the pasted text does not appear in new text until you click off the text, then you see it. This is bad. Really, really bad.
3) Text is severely slow to respond to keyboard. Have to wait 1-2 seconds before you can start typing. This is like an anchor around the neck of productivity.
4) You can no longer grab the text by the edge of the frame to move it (like 2016 and prior). Rather you have to exit the text command with the move command, etc. Not referring to "repositioning" text by grabbing the + and keeping the leader in place, but moving both the text and the leader together.
This feels like Revit Text took one step forward, and many steps backwards. ???
Patch .2 doesn't fix the issue where you highlight text to replace but the program does absolutely nothing unless the mouse is moved an additional time after highlighting the text....
No, it doesn't seem to. In fact, it seems to me that it may even be worse. It's quite the headache.
I've been noticing too that sometimes on reload the text in leadered notes enlarges ever so slightly and word wraps. When it does this, the text box doesn't resize and you lose part of your note. To get it back, you need to manually stretch the text box just a little to fix the wrap.
Yes, we've found that every project done in 2016 when opening in 2017 adjusts the wrapping of the text. It appears the fonts in 2017 are slightly larger? Why would this happen? Isn't 3/32" text 3/32" no matter what? Why would 3/32" now be larger? When the program re-wraps text blocks it causes all sorts of overlapping and uglyness. Why with 2017 prices are we still dealing with 1985 era programming errors?
@Base12 A year ago asked the same question and here is what I got in response:

Autodesk probably could have been more forcefull warning about the
changes in 2017's Text, but don't expect them to "fix" it.
The problem is not that 2017 "broke" Text. The problem is that Text has
been broken for the whole history of Revit, and now it works the way it
should. Many of the differences are, in fact, because they wanted to
make Text more consistent with (shudder) the way it works inAutoCAD.
Here's the technical details:

It's completely understandable that they would want to do that. It actually makes sense for them to do so. If you're going to create an interconnected platform, you need to be consistent across your entire platform so that results are predictable.
The issue is, it seems they didn't take into account all the other things it would affect - like the invisible text, word-wrap and other issues that keep coming up. I've even had the word-wrap issue in projects that weren't converted from 15/16 to 17.
By not taking the time to think it through and implement the change properly, they've caused the community as a whole a lot of headaches that still aren't corrected despite being on SP2 at this point.
Whoa, wait... what? Revit text is NOTHING like Autocad text. Nothing. Even Autocad v8 DTEXT (not 2008, but "8") was better text than Revit is. The update in R14 (I think?) to MTEXT made Autocad text more like true word processor text giving indents, superscript, alignments, tabs, double spaced numbered lists and on and on and on. In fact, nearly every other Windows PC based program that uses any sort of text has this type of editing and formatting capability. Have you tried to use any other font than Arial, or Arial Black in Revit? Disaster!! To suggest that Revit text is like Autocad text is like boasting the capability of arm floaties to a nuclear submarine.
@Base12 Revit 2017 changed the "SCALE" of text to what it should have been all along, which hasn't been an issue in Autocad. That is what dplumb was talking about. It has nothing to do with the text editor between the two....although we did get some much needed text editor functions too.
I started on R13 for DOS and have used most versions since. I didn't say it was identical in function, it's not. I said it was consistent in rendering. I've also not run into any font-related issues. Yes, I use Arial, but I also use several others.
That being said. I do feel that the actual editing functions have improved and are similar enough. You can do anything with text that it makes sense to do on a drawing. If you want more, you're doing too much and should be using a Word Processor.
The big issue in this thread has always been the display of text while editing. If it doesn't display correctly while editing, you can't tell what you're doing so you can't predict what you'll get.
