Known Change Requests – Community Tracking

Dear Community,

This post is created in a response to a discussion about wishing to have a list of known issues:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/known-bug-list/m-p/7144932

The idea is that the community will keep adding issues when they encounter one that is confirmed as a known issue. This will stay at the top of forum.  Each post will be a short summary with link pointing to a separate post discussing in detail.

We are aware that this is not perfect solution. But making change requests public systematically or automating is not something we can easily accomplish. We (as API support) also thought about something in a similar line. But the more we discuss, the more we realize by itself will be large project, which we cannot invest at a moment. So let’s take a baby step at a time, and see if this helps.

Rules:

  • Each post will be a short summary of issue with link pointing to a separate post discussing in detail.
  • Add a change request ID where available.
  • Discussion on one item should be in a separate thread. (Create a new post and add link to a specific post).

With thanks to @jeremytammik and @Anonymous at Ideate:

Modeless form focus issues (and resolutions) http://thebuildingcoder.typepad.com/blog/2017/10/modeless-form-keep-revit-focus-and-on-top.html

(One issue is new to Revit 2018.)

Cheers,

Can you make some kind of change that will allow users to edit their posts?  I know we can do that currently, but only if it's within a minute or so.  I just had to create a reply to my post because I altered a couple lines of code, and it just seems like a waste...

Thanks!!

Revit Idea: access Line Weights (settings) from Dynamo and/or Revit API.

Feature request CF-3772 (according to @eric.anastas). See also Accessing Revit lineweights in this forum.

Austin Sudtelgte:

"Element.GetDependentElements() [new in Revit 2018.1] seems to require an element filter rather than having it be optional as noted above. It's possible (since the complete API doesn't seem to be posted to revitapidocs.com yet) that in 2019 the filter is optional but as of 2018.1 it was not."

be able to access 'Default path for user files' through API - so we don't have to all roll our own Revit.ini access methods; see also Current location of local revit documents?

Customizable Contextual Menus via API - right-click menus and contextual ribbon tab (current workarounds are "unsupported") to create a smoother and more cohesive UI experience (through contextual UI elements)

Any update on this?  (referring to the option to be able to edit a forum post) It would certainly benefit this Forum.

Open up View title in Revit API - example (potential) usage: pyRevit's Move Selected Viewports To Selected Sheet (see also maintain location of View Title and length of line when using 'Move Selected Viewports To Selected S...).

Sheet Set Print Order - similar idea as Print from Schedule, but for API (make ViewSet class keep the sheets in the order they are added, instead of automatically sorting them alphabetically, to be saved with the ViewSheetSetting so that it persists along with the rest of the sheet sets)

Here’s the idea – if anybody wants to vote for it. (I see that @lionel.kai has already been there.)
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/sheet-set-print-order/idi-p/7709743

In a similar vein, the ‘Batch Print’ macro has found its way onto the application menu in 2021. (It was on the Add-Ins tab.)
No discernible change though…

Cheers,

-Matt

Rubberband when drawing lines with the API - i.e. add a PickDist (and/or PickPoint with a starting point)

I think this is the same idea (unless the OP really meant drawing a literal line), but it didn't get merged: Prompt user to draw a line from the API
