This would be excellent to have the ability to align the view titles since we already the ability to control the position of the viewports via the API.

Yes - and provide consistent numbering with an option to use the NCS grid system for naming such as A1,D4, etc. instead of the default sequential numbering.

Now this is on the public roadmap. @Anonymous your idea makes me wonder if there's a "viewport placed" or "viewport moved" event that could trigger an automatic (re-)numbering... though of course it would be nicer to have something built-in (instead of us having to "roll our own").
