I have a xaml Window that is raising an External Event to load and place a new family in the active project document.

All of my xaml loads and functions correctly. When I send the UIDocument.PostRequestForElementTypePlacement(familySymbol), everything still runs correctly, the application in the background visually changes to show that it is getting ready to place a family and then I hit an exception.

The only other example I could find on the internet was listed here:

Should I catch the XamlParseException and if it is of the type Autodesk.Internal.Windows.Badge then dismiss the exception? Or should I be trying to call this AdWindows somehow?

The issue was because of one of the projects that is in my solution was using the RevitAPI as a reference with Copy Local on the assembly to true in Visual Studio. I had modified this at some point to Copy Local as true, built the solution, realized this was in error and changed to Copy Local as false. The RevitAPI.dll along with the AdWindows.dll was next to my .dll.

 

After deleting this from my Debug folder and rebuilding, I no longer get this XamlParseException.
