Creating a wireframe around a surface of a solid

First, is there a way to create a curve around a surface of a solid other than having to trace using composite curve?

I also do not want to convert the solid to surfaces.

Basically I'd like to select a surface of a solid and get a wireframe around that surface.

Second, I'd like to incorporate this into a macro if possible:

Macro would ask me to select a surface and then create a wireframe of the outline of that surface.

Hello Glenh,

Try to use the attached macro with the following steps:

1. Only one Solid visible. (Hide all the others)
2. Select the solid target solidsurface. (Let pink color the target solid surface)

3. Run the macro.

It should made what you like.

If you like to set a shortcut key for that macro do the following:

1. Create an Addin with the following parameters: (change the location to yours)

2. Go to the File / Options / Customize Keyboard Shortcuts and do the following: (Change the key what you like)

Now you able to use keyboard shortcuts to this macro.

Hi Joe,

One quick question if you don't mind.

Let's say my solid is on level 301

Is there a way to detect that level #, save it as a variable, then place the composite curve onto Level 701 and activate that same level?

Basically, if my solid is on level 301 I would like to place the curve on level 701

If my solid is on level 302, then I'd like to place the curve on level 702, and so on.

Is this possible in Powershape?

I know I can assign variables in Powermill, then use if/then commands etc. Can this be done in Powershape?
