Dimensions update automatically

When I simply change the color of a dimension line it updates other aspects of the dimension such as precision or arrow size.  I'm simply want to change the color of the dimension with not other updates.  Is there a system variable causing this problem?

How are you attempting to change the color by code ?

. . . post the code ( using the ,</> button on the expanded editor menu)
Are you attempting to modify a specific instance of a dimension ?

. . and a specific element (text line )
