Smooth Mesh Problem. Plz help

Hello Guys,

I have Maya 2020, while I am completing my face modeling project, one weird problem is bugging me.
Everything seems fine in normal mode(5) until I press 3key(smooth). The polygon mesh changes, it goes inwards leaving a big carved bump, I have tried deleting history/ assigning new material, and I even tried changing the problematic mesh faces with the duplicated mesh, nothing works.

In normal mode, when you select one of the edges that is causing this problem, do you get just one edge or more than one?

just one edge bro.
I checked the vertices.

Hi!

The normals are reversed.

At first in Viewport use

Lighting -> Two Sided Lighting (uncheck),

then you can see the problem.

 

Use

Mesh Display -> Conform

Mesh Display -> Reverse

to correct this.
