Maya obj to Zbrush polygroups problem

Hi there.

I have a character face with lamberts on several faces to have them as polygroups on Zbrush, but for some reason, Zbrush dont recognize my texture selection and just give me the whole mesh without any Polygroups.

Any suggestions.

Sincerely,

Hi @Anonymous

Have you tried using the sub tool menu in Zbrush and checking to see if that can help separate them?

Also, generally I find its best to have each model separated then select everything and export as one file to Zbrush for polygroups to have an effect.

Please let me know if this helps or if you need any more assistance!

Hi.

Thanks for reply.

Im adding my textures to the faces of the object. It's a character face. So is only one mesh for the face. I found it strange that Zbrush dont recognise the faces with diferent textures as poly groups. Maybe in previous version was ok, Im following a tutorial where it works but it may be a little old.

I really dont know.

Sincerely,

Alvaro

I try with C4D to do the same. But Zbrush dont recognize the textures as polygroups. So is not a Maya problem.

I found it !!!

Well, Zbrush forum pointed out that in the preferences you have an import/export options menu, then you click import materials as polygroups !
