Allow the user to begin typing the name or synonym for a tool or command in Maya, then have Maya present options to the user that are related to what's been typed in the field; i.e. start typing, "Box" to see options like, "Create Cube".

Search allows you type to find anything in your scene, any command or tool, and any python or MEL command. You can use synonyms to look for something you don't know the exact name for, plus you can add your own synonyms.
