Scale Time Range the same way as the Viewport

Scale Time Range the same way as the Viewport

It could really speed up workflow if an animator could simply hover over the timeline and Alt+RMB to 'zoom' into a set of keys on the Timeline. It would adjust the start and end of the Time Range slider to scale around the cursor's location. It would be much faster than having to click the little squares on the Time Range Slider or input the values in the float windows.

I agree, the drag handles on the time slider are one of the more awkward little bits of Maya UI that everyone deals with all the time.  Being able to mousewheel to zoom (and the other standard Maya zooming methods) could help.

It might be a little weird, since you usually expect zooming in and out to be symmetric: if you zoom in, then zoom out the same amount, you end up where you started.  That wouldn't happen with the time slider, since it would clamp at the edges of the time range.  It would be tricky to make zooming the time slider feel consistent with zooming the viewport or node editor or UV editor, and act in a natural way.  But, it's worth a try.

That’s understandable. I would assume the actual functionality would need
iteration. Standard Maya zooming may work or possibly Alt+RMB dragging to
extend or scale back one end of the range, based on if the cursor is on
left or right of center. I’m sure they can find something that feels
intuitive. Anything to speed up that bit of workflow would be beneficial.
