Reset attribute values to default

Reset attribute values to default

(Copied from original User Voice forum)

Add a reset button or RMB menu option to the Attribute Editor.

"Sometimes we want to change some attributes (on a shader, texture, node - in short: on everything that can be changed) to see what the result is gonna be. However, it's not always that this result is what we were expecting and when we decide to come back to the default values most of the time we don't remember what the default numbers were.

So, it would be GREAT if there was an option to reset the values on the tab that we see when we press the right mouse button on something (exactly there where we see these options: "Create New Expression; Set key; Set Driven Key; Create New Texture; Lock Attribute"). The first option, for instance, could be "RESET TO DEFAULT".

With this feature we will no longer be afraid of changing something and not to know how to go back to the default value."

"It would be convenient for users to be able to quickly change all input fields associated with an attribute such as
Translate x, y, z float input fields
by simply right clicking on the attribute name in the AE and choosing an entry named "reset to default" or "reset values".

Same for individual int/float input fields. Right click on a single field, choose reset values/reset to default and THAT int/float field resets (0)."

It would also be amazing if somehow it would be able to visualize values that are non-default. I think Houdini for example makes values (or attribute name) bold when they are non-default.

This way it's easy to see what tweaks a user has made on a node. Maybe Maya has too much attributes on nodes (compared to Houdini) to have this make sense. But I always liked the idea of easily being able to see what was non-default.

i also miss this in bifrost graph. already told them about it.

I like cinema4D's implementation, where you can right click the value slider arrows to the right of the parameters.

Most nodes already have this feature, Save Preset... example - create default shader, texture , camera, utility nodes, Save with default Preset.

Being a rigger this is something that, if built in to Maya would be very helpful. Especially when freelancing, as sending custom scripts and code and self buttons is messy and problematic.

Being able to create something like a selection set that stores multiple object presets and can by applied internally would be ace.

I just found out that this isn't an existing feature and was kinda shocked!  I think the suggested feature sounds perfect.  It would be great if this function could be assignable to a hotkey as well, I would use it very often when animating.
