Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

From what I can tell from the screenshot is that the tutorial user is working in 2016 where is you are working in 2018?

If so it's possible there have been changes since then that are affecting this workflow.

That said, first you'll want to check to make sure all your lights are set up and have an adequate amount of brightness for the scene.

If nothing changes, when you get a chance can you please zip and attach the scene file here or via dropbox/google drive or another file sharing program so I can take a look at it?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for attaching your project!

I took a look at it and something went wrong with your light settings as it wont hold the Light Fog. When you create the light fog and then click back on the spotlight the fog you added is gone.

To fix this, simply delete the spotlight and make a new one and you should be all set!

Hi @Anonymous

If that didn't change anything and you are 100% following his steps correctly then it's something with your machine and/or Maya

What GPU are you using and do the drivers match up with our certified hardware list?

Steps to update your drivers can be found here!

While you uninstalled and reinstalled that may have no reset your settings so please make sure to try deleting your settings/preferences.

If the above doesn't work, try exporting everything from your scene as an fbx and re import it into a new Maya scene.

You can also do simply tests by making a light in a plane in an empty scene you can test the light settings.

Hi @lainusgishti2000

Did deleting your settings/preferences not work at all?

I went ahead and made a quick video of my set up and had some tips and steps you can try as well to try and fix this issue.

Thanks solved, using maya render software and not arnold render

curiosity: why does it work with the first render and not with the second one?

just find another minor problem, why, sometimes some texture are randomly missing, from the render/view, but actually they are present even if they are not displayed?

Hi!

"Light fog" is not supported by Arnold.
