Simple copy paste keys error

Hi

When i drag around my controls in viewport and set a key, the theory is simply copy and pasting this key should work, but it doesnt!!!!!

how can this be possible? destoying all my weights like this?

Hi @Jimbo_1975!

Which version of Maya are you using?

Also make sure the 'Connect' option is turned off.

Let me know if anything changes!

Maya 2016, but it happens in Maya 2015 too.

Connect? not sure what you mean.

Its a bit tough to explain, can you attach your scene file here or via dropbox/google drive so I can take a look at it?

Hi Sean
I cant really as its a rig i modelled and rigged for work and its not meant
to be viewed yet.

Ive never had this problem with other rigs though i usually just drag over
controls and set keys, but things are
not setting properly and im lost

If the work is confidential you can send it to me directly in a private message. All scenes are kept strictly confidential and will only be on my machine for testing this issue 🙂

Hey @Jimbo_1975

I'm not an expert with animation/rigging but I played around with your scene a ton and I didn't have the issue with the mouth controls or the tweening but I did have the issue trying to copy frames.

I talked to a coworker and they said the issue is what order you selected your controls and key'd them and therefor selecting all of them and copy/pasting wont work.

I think your best bet may be to change the controllers/rig but let me know if anything changes!

Thanks. But i dont think selecting in any order matters.

Setting keys is setting keys

I did some more playing around and copy/paste does work in the graph editor!

It's a little bit messy but I did a quick test by taking the keys you had at frame 1, deleted your keys at 150 and then pasted the idle keys and it worked albeit the animation wasnt perfect since I skipped a ton of keys :P.

Try this out and let me know if it solves your issue!

So dragging over all keys in GE and copy then paste? I will try again, but
sure i tried this
and it didnt work.

Still cant get over the fact that maya - meant to be a powerful tool, cant
simply copy and paste keys properly!

Well ive been playing around more myself and i right clicked and 'cut selected'. That gives me back the

black translate and rotate channels which i can key, seems to work maybe.wont know about animating
till saturday as ive finished for tonight and having a day out in London tomorrow.

Still aint got a solution for the copy keys and tween machine error though.

Sean suggested copy and paste keys in GE, i will try this.

But dragging over all nurbs controls and setting keys at, for example f14 and f20, then tween machine at 17 should
work it always has before..and copying and pasting keys should also work....

Crazy!
