Render Layer Setup hierarchy issue

Hi,

Let's suppose I have three objects in a scene. I create a render layer and a collection, then I add all three objects in that collection.

Now I realize that I need to create a new group with two of these objects. As soon as I group them, the render layer shows a warning icon and both objects are missing from the collection. It seems that Maya cannot detect that the same two objects are now in a group and should be kept in the collection. Of course I could remove the missing objects and add them again manually, but this is a bit annoying when working with a complex layer setup.

Is there a way for Maya to automatically update this kind of hierarchy relationships within the renderlayers?

Grouping objects is a very basic operation and I think Maya should be able to update these changes automatically.

Thank you,

Hi @Anonymous

I don't know of a way to automatically fix this as it may be how render layers are set up at the moment.

I highly recommend posting this on the Maya Idea Board.

This is a great place for the community to share ideas, changes or feature requests they want to see in the future of Maya and this board is regularly checked by the dev team!

Thank you for your answer, Sean. I'll have a look at the Maya Idea Board.
