Maya can't load Redshift plug-in !

Hello,

I am a french student and I'm using Maya 2018 and I can't run the redshift4maya.mll plugin in my plugin manager.

It works on my buddies computers, even on my other laptop but not on my new MSI which is way more powerful.

I can see the plugin but when I click on "loaded" it never stop loading during hours and I must restart Maya.

The problem is that I don't have any error message because it doesn"t stop loading by itself.

The code that appears when I launch maya :

Hi @Anonymous

If you click Auto Load instead then restart Maya does anything change?

You can also try deleting your settings/preferences and then try to load the plugin again.

Finally, is this the most recent version of redshift? You also may want to ask their support in case its on the plugin devs end.

Same problem here. I get this error when I click the Loaded checkbox:

// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2018/scripts/others/pluginWin.mel line 290: Unable to dynamically load : C:/ProgramData/Redshift/Plugins/Maya/2018/nt-x86-64/redshift4maya.mll
The specified module could not be found.

It says the module cannot be found, however I checked that location and the file clearly exists there.

In many cases the issue is related to a missing dependent library

on Windows one means of seeing the dependencies is to use dependency walker

https://www.dependencywalker.com

there may be a system / compiler runtime library that is not installed

so same here .. clicking the load will just crash maya and i can only kill it with the task manager. tryed other versions of redshift. tryed updating the driver of the graphic card.. also i have it running normally (the same redshift) in 2 different setups with geforce 840m and 920m. but the problem occurs in the setups with gtx1650 and 1650 super (tryed 2 other different computers aswell). So am not sure if it's gpu related or not. if anyone found a solution please reply or mail me or anything ([email protected])

Hi! I am answering this really late but maybe can help for some of you guys!

***Disclaimer: My computer is Windows, so I don't really know if this fix works for Mac, and, the Redhsift version I was trying to install was Redshift Free Trail (https://www.redshift3d.com/demo). , but here it goes... ***

I had same issue everybody is having trying to install the plugin, where I had the file in my computer for the plugin, but Maya just didn't recognize it....but managed to fix it, in a strange way, it may help, it may not, but worth a try.

The first thing you have to do, is, if you installed Redshift already and you are having issues, try to uninstall it and install it again BUUUT TURN OFF Windows Defender or any Antivirus, and firewall before installing Redshift... by a strange reason, windows recognizes some file of Redshift (which is the one for the plugin for Maya) as a threat, so it deletes it without noticing it. Its seems like the file is there, but by a strange reason it doesn't recognize it.. So be sure to TURN OFF  antivirus or windows defender when installing Redshift.

Once you guys install it, try launching Maya and go to the Plug in Manager and load the plugin, and it should work, at least it did for me.  Now, if you guys, turn on the antivirus or the windows defender on again,  what will happen, is that again is going to recognize it as a threat so be sure to go to your threat history and click "ALLOW ACCESS" and it shoud not remove it again from your computer.

Hope it helps!

While this works, disabling your AV is not a good long term solution. I found that a better option is to whitelist the redshift install folder in Windows Defender (or whatever AV software you are using). This way, you can keep your AV running.

i ve already tried all of that.. re installing like 10 times.. without Defender or with it.

my last case of that issue was cuz of my Window account name was written in Korean.
As soon as i re-built window accounts in English, it worked.
but i bought a new computer and this issue is happening again.. ****..

even though I created account in English and re installing 100 times, it's not working.

I have no clue what is problem loading just a Redshift plugin at Maya...
wish there is any error message.. to figure it out but no...

When I go into plug in manager and checks the Redshift box, it just crashes
