Maya 2018 saving with Arnold crashes maya

Hello, I've got to say rendering's not one of my strong suits.

I recently got back into Maya from 2 years of doing 2D work, I know a lot of things have changed and I'm basically a caveman now trying to use Arnold. But every time I enable the plugin, Maya works fine I'm able to render an image, however saving with the plugin enabled hard crashes the program.

I'm using a student version of Maya 2018, I'm not sure if you have to manually update Arnold? or use Maya 2019? or it could be another thing only people on here know about.

Hi @Anonymous

Is there a crash report to fill out when and submit to Autodesk when your Maya crashes?

Also you'll want to make sure your Maya 2018 is up to date as well as your Arnold plugin. You can download the most recent version of Arnold here.

@sean.heasley
<> I
just updated Arnold from the link that you gave me. The thing is I tested
enabling the plugin in a blank file. saved in it, it didn't crash at all,
but the scene I want to render from crashes 100% consistently. It might
have something to do with the hyper-shade window and textures not being
compatible? I'll check and see if I have the most up to date 2018, but in
the mean time could you check the file i suppose?

Hi @Anonymous

Sure thing!

When you get a chance, can you please zip and attach the scene file here or via dropbox/google drive or another file sharing program so I can take a look at it? If the file is confidential or under NDA please send it to me in a private message instead of posting it here.

Sure try this? It's just a basic face with eyes. not under copyright or
protection of any sort.

Hi @Anonymous

There was nothing in your previous post. If you're responding via email attachments don't always go through so you'll need to either come back to the forums and manually attach the file or use a shareable download link via google drive, dropbox etc
