Maya 2017 Sound import problems

Anonymous

Hey, so I'm using maya 2017 on my PC. Everytime I try to import an audio clip I get the " //Error line 0:cannot find file". I've tried messing with the settings, deleting the preferences, and reninstalling the software. Nothing works, I thought it might be the audio so I tried it on my macbook and it worked fine. Anyone know what to do?

Hi!

2 possible reasons:

1. maybe mp3 is not supported

2. your file path contains special characters like whitespace and ",".

Hi @Anonymous

Both of @mspeer's suggestions are worth checking out and one more issue may be an incompatibility issue with the compression.

It is suggested that you convert your sound file to a waveform that is LPCM-encoded (44.1 kHz, 16 bit, two channel, LCPM).

Please make sure the files are encoded properly and also be sure to change the file names to remove the ' , ' and let us know if anything changes!

I know this is from a loooong time ago, but I still run into issues with this.  To add to what sean.heasley said at the end....I often also find it's a compression issue.  The bit rate and sample rate are what usually get me into trouble.  Make sure it is 16 or 24 bit.  Maya chokes on 32 bit samples and usually anything over 44.1 khz sample rate.  And...only wav files.  Nothing else has worked for me.
