Matching Perspective and Scale to Model

Hello all,

      Can anyone recommend from personal experience a workflow or tool that helps me to match the perspective and scale of a keyed piece of video footage to a virtual set I've made in Maya?  It's just a simple few seconds of a figure walking that i need to convincingly place in my Maya space.  I've googled this and gotten too much information to know where to start.

Hi @Anonymous

I believe the simplest way to do this would be to have the character in scene and know where they are walking and what they are doing.

That way you can plan the camera around their movements and then model and place all of the objects around them accordingly.

Thank you for the reply!  I've 'sort of' done that.  I made the scene before the shot was, well, shot.  I did manage to map the movie clip to an 

image plane which saves me a lot of headache, but i'm in that gray area of getting it to look just right.  I keep comparing the scale of my character to that of a chair a few 'feet' away and am not quite confident it's accurate.  Still, this was helpful for proceeding.  thank you kindly!
