Running Maya 2018 (Education License) Switching between the move - rotate tools with w, e, r keys lags heavily. No issue at all when switching with the mouse & icons.

Win 10

i7 950 @ 3.07GHz

Nvidia Quadro 2000 (latest driver)

12GB ram

dual monitors @ 1920x1080

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

A quick fix you can try is switching your GPU driver to our certified version. Our officially supported version is version 391.33. So when you get a chance, please uninstall your current driver and install version 391.33 which can be found here!

Please let me know if this helps or if you need any more assistance!

Hello Sean, thanks for the reply.

I believe the driver you've suggested is not for quadro 2000. I have R375 U11 (377.83).

Can you please confirm this is the latest driver Autodesk suggests for Quadro 2000.

Hi @Anonymous

Ah my mistake I thought I saw your GPU on our certified hardware list. It actually doesn't look like your GPU is officially supported so that may be why you're seeing this.

Has this happened before or is this the first time you're seeing this and/or using Maya?

Are there any other applications running in the background that could be interfering with Maya?

I remember this happening before, but have no idea if it was even on the same computer. All I know is it was not on Maya 2018 since I just started (attempted) using it.

Here is a similar but slightly different issue. Unlike this one, I experience no delay between selections or when navigating.

A funny detail is, even if I open a fresh scene with no geometry, therefore no visible manipulators, I still see the tool icons highlight with delay, and again, no issues clicking the buttons themselves, only with w - e - r...

Nothing running in the background, freshly re-installed system. No problems at all with Maya 2015 on the same machine. I am beginning to think it is just "one of those issues"...

Cheers

Hi @Anonymous

Hmm ok.

This is a bit tough to work with since I can't reproduce the issue and it doesn't seem like there are any steps to recreate the issue.

Is you Maya 2018 up to date? If not please update to update 3 and let me know if anything changes.

Another option is you may want to perform a clean uninstall/reinstall of Maya. This way in case something weird went wrong we can completely nuke your Maya settings and have you start fresh and see if anything changes.

Let me know how this goes for you!

Hello Sean,

I've updated to .3, but did not completely reinstall. Update did not solve the issue. I think I'll keep using 2015. Won't have time for a reinstall for a while. Will let you know when I do. Thanks for all the help.

Cheers

hey i had the same issue, noticed a general lag especially noticeable with manipulator. And this happened after a windows update around 10 july probably KB4343669.
Looks like it has to do with openGL (compatibility mode) try to switch your viewport to openGL strict or directX, for me openGl strict fixed the issue

Tried them all, didn't help with my case unfortunately. I don't know if it somehow relates to render engine or not; but I experience the delay even without any objects or manipulators present in the scene.

Thanks for the advice tho, you had me excited for a second.

Hi @Anonymous

@abercaine made a good point and was gonna be my next suggestion to check your rendering engine as well as for any major windows updates that may have caused this.

Generally, if a Windows update causes an issue like this the easiest solution is to do a clean uninstall. That said, when you have time to try that please let me know how it goes for you!

Hey I just accidentally opened Maya 2018. It seems to be working just fine. Only change since last week was a windows update. (kb4338819) I don't know if it is related or a coincident.
