Hi @Anonymous

I don't believe you can convert a Maya scene file to a Cinema 4d file.

However you can import objects made in Maya into Cinema 4d.

This video shows how to do that:

Please let me know if this helps or if you need any more assistance!

Dont know yet. sent it to our client and our engineer to see if it is the
solution. My client knows how to convert maya to cinema4D but somehow they
are asking us to send cinema4D file
The problem is we dont have cinema 4D. Almost all of our clients work with
maya.
So we want to create cinema 4D file from Maya or form OBJ. I think there is
no Cinema 4D APIs

I will have either one of them test out your suggestion and let you know
whether this is the solution.

Hi!

Simply save in a format that's supported by both applications like fbx or obj.

Hi!

If your client asks for Cinema4D files, than you need Cinema4d, there is no way around this.

We have the 3D face mesh and deformations (deforming/moving 3D face mesh) in OBJ with cam matrix as well as Maya format. We thought we could just upload OBJ file in Cinema4D but found out this is not possible, from Cinema4D folks

"As obj cannot import animation, this would not be a solution. In case of animation, maybe FBX would be a solution. Please be aware, we are not allowed to import fileformats from Autodesk."

Will you tell us if FBX file is the solution? I hate the way they say "maybe"

As long as there is a way to provide files that is compatible with Cinema4D, it doesn't matter if we export Maya file to one of these compatible formats. Thank you.

Sean please see my response to @mspeer. Please see if you can chip in and
answer the question.
Still waiting for our client to confirm if any one of these things is an
answer. Thank you

Hi @Anonymous

In this case yes FBX should work for you.

Simply export fbx from Maya and import into Cinema 4D and you should be all set!

Hi!

The reason why the say "maybe" is because they don't know what features you want to transfer and what result you expect. But yes, FBX can transfer animation.

In the end you have to try on your own what file format is the right for you.

Again:

Delivering data that you can't test on your own is a bad idea, except your client agrees (to work this out with you).

there haves to be friendly converter cause most cases you get files from the client which is mb and done by another artist
we shouldn't have license version maya then that is big problem. when i am c4d artist dealing with mb file.

Hi,

Can you convert a mb file to an obj file for me? That would be really helpful, cause I'm a Blender user!

I need the facial rig from "Eisco Louise" as an obj file 😉

Here is a download link on wetransfer, cause the file is too large (117.9mb) :

WeTransfer

(there is no virus or so on)

BUT: You have "only" 7 days to download the file!! (If you are too late, of course I can send you a new one!)

Thank you so much!
