2023, 2024 versions of maya now loading extremally slowly suddenly after error message

Hello my maya installs are now very slow to load, it takes about 10 mins to create a cube from the "polygon cube" tool. It used to only take maybe 3 seconds. This seems to have started after I tried to load my main project file. when I did so both maya 2023 and 2024 would give me this error message. "Cannot find procedure "MTsetToggleMenuItem". When I was getting this error message may would simply not load my project save file at all.I followed this tutorial by autodesk to get the error message to go away. (https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Cannot-find-proced...)

The message went away and I was able to open the file, but now Maya is extremely slow. It is so slow I simply can not work with it anymore. I have deleted high poly models from my project, deleted history, and used the optimize scene tool. None of it has improved the speed of maya. Which makes me think it is somekind of bug in maya or a random button I pressed that's making maya to do this.
Does anyone know what could be causing this issue?? I really need to be able to use maya again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Sounds like it might be an issue with the Windows Fault Tolerant Heap.

It is built into Windows and it is supposed to make older apps more stable but in reality ends up completely killing performance on any crashing app that gets put into this particular penalty box.

See this other forum thread for instructions on how to disable it:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-forum/maya-2022-becomes-slow-after-crash/td-p/10265472
You can always try resetting your Maya preferences by following the instructions here:

If that is not the issue then i would suggest trying to reset your Maya preferences:
