maya2018: Mash Dynamics - Deforming Mesh, collisions not solving.

I've been messing around with MASH the past few days and I am having problems with deformable objects colliding.  When I select "MESH" on the collision shape drop down menu, I get no interaction.  In fact,  I get no interaction at all from any of the options.  Upping Collision iterations and internal framerate on the Solver Settings also has no effect with the mesh.  The mesh I am using to collide is a triangulated alembic file.  I have also tried using a pPlane with a texture deformer and the particles still fall right through....  I believe it may be a display problem with Viewport 2.0's OpenGL rendering engine,  but maybe someone  can provide me with more insight?   I am currently on CentOS 7.4 and using a quadro4000.

Hi Warren,

It sounds you like your preferences are corrupt. Navigate to the Maya2018 preference directory and rename it to ".2018" to hide it. Next time you launch Maya it will create new preferences and everything should work are designed.

Hey J_Oll,

Thanks for responding so quickly.  I had already tried that and it did not work.

After rebuilding the preferences did you disable Parallel Evaluation? By default it is on.

I know I said this solved my problem, but i think it only solved part of it.  I noticed the animation wont collide once it starts moving.  I was able to solve the problem on my home computer (windows/gtx1070) using SERIAL instead of DG and increasing the FPS of the simulation.  However when  brought the scene back to my office (centOS/quadroM4000) the simulation fails.

Any ideas?

I've attached the latest scene I was using.

If you are using Alembic with Bullet dynamics make sure to select the correct format option that is compatible with the MASH bullet implementation that is supported by the Maya Alembic implementation. MASH and Maya bullet have some important differences in their Alembic requirements.

Thanks for the reply J_Oll,

So I've tried both formats and used the actual rig file that had the shoe.  Same issue.

Are you using 2018.4? There was bug in previous versions that may be preventing it from working correctly. The format is correct but it is being read wrong.

That's probably why. Did you try resetting your preferences?

Yeah I've been deleting them every time I try something new.   Its strange, DG works fine, but it looks like the animation is frozen on frame 1 and as the alembic starts to move, everything just passes through it.

That is really strange cause your scene works fine here, collisions and all. Maybe it's a Linux bug.
