How to delete nurb controls from the rig without destroying animation?

Hi!I had some problems exporting my rig and animation in fbx to UE4 because I got the error that I had multiple root bones. I found out deleting the controls from the rig makes it import properly. However, when I delete my controls(by unparenting them fromt he joints), the joints change their positions and I would basicalyy have to make this animation from scratch again. Is there any way to do that without loosing my progres? I also tried to attach every joint directly into the root and then deleting the controls, yet again it destroys my progress. Simply renaming the bones etc. doesn't work either.

Okay. Of course I am trying to export only my weapon, not both rigs. Even if I delete the character rig from the scene it doesn't help.
