Can you save the skeleton?

In many programs there is a way to save the bones of the rigged character but for some reason i can not find it in Maya nor is there youtube videos about it (you think they would). I'm i dumb, i looked everywhere, i search the documentation and zero answers on how to do basic thing. Now i wonder if it's even possible because no one asked, why no one ask until i have to do it?

It's not really a big deal, i just mess up on my skeleton because maya can't warn me about deleting constraint because of May's Etymology. I still have the skeleton and older file holding the working version, i don't mind redoing simple work i just hate wasting time redoing it for the 100 times because of lack of answers.

Well, if you looked for "save skeleton" you wouldn't find any tutorials, because the skeleton is automatically saved with the scene in whatever state you left it.

But from what you are describing with deleting contraints, I think what you are looking for is "baking animation".

Here is a tutorial that explains that:

I hope it helps!

Answers nothing and i am not exporting the model into a game. I just wanted to save the bones of the character that is called skeleton and use it because Maya will delete my skeleton when i need to redo things.

Ok, first of, it's not called a skeleton, it's called a "rig" in 3D DCCs, so maybe try searching for that if you have problems with one.

But also, what you are asking doesn't really make sense.

You say you don't know how to save a skeleton, but skeletons get saved when you save a scene. Also you say you don't know how to save a skeleton but at the same time you somehow have a saved skeleton in an older scene. I'm sorry but you are not describing your problem accurately enough.

What exactly goes missing from your skeleton?

Is it the bones, the skin, the constraints, the animation?

Do you have any error messages when you work with the skeleton? If yes, what do they say?
What kind of "things" do you need to redo?

How did you build this skeleton? Is it custom, did you use an auto rigging tool (if yes, which one) or did you buy the skeleton from somewhere?

Can you give any pictures or videos that could give me or other forum members some more insight in what is going on?
