Want to use multiple cameras but cannot view from both cameras.

Hi Sean:

I could not see my forum question. I sent you a video clip of correctly performed sequence and a scene that I want to recreate the same effect. I am able to set up cameras and motion path. However, not able to have see view from camera in both. I can only turn on either camera 1 or camera 2 but not both.  Any idea?

Thanks

A.

Hi @Anonymous

I haven't seen a video clip or scene file in any of your posts or private messages.

When you get a chance, can you please post them here so I can see what's happening?

Hi @Anonymous

The set up you have is fine. What you would have to do is basically render from one camera doing the spin around and then render the second camera continuing where the first one ended then edit them together in a video editing program, not within Maya.

If you want to do this in Maya, then you would need to manually move, rotate and key the camera moving around the model in a circle and then also move and key it as it enters the model. This will be more work but it will look nicer and will only require one camera.

Please let me know if this information helps!

Great Sean.

Your idea of rendering separately and then combining rendered frames in a movie maker is great!  That seems like an easy thing to do. thank you.  I have one more question. I am finding it difficult to set up camera parameters for rendering fly-through. Can you suggest values or better yet, show me screencast as to how you would just do rendering inside trachea as done in published video.

I tried different focal lengths but image seem to fly out of view area. Also, cannot adjust to see surrounding tissue for reference.

I have been able to do quite a bit with your help. Thank you, indeed.

Thank you,

A

Hi!

You also might look at Camera Sequencer and Ubercam.

Hi @Anonymous

@mspeer made some solid suggestions with Camera Sequencer and Ubercam.

That said, is your issue the camera's specific settings for how it looks, the lens etc or is your issue with setting up the cameras movement throughout the body?

Hi Sean:My ignorance is in setting camera that keeps the object in the center and and camera does move around. When I set up path  and camera and observe through the camera, the object either goes outside view port and never at the center.

Here is a scene I just crated in twin pregnancy. Can you send me screencast as to how you set up camera parameters?

Once I get a handle on that, I will try to do through vessel at a later time.

thanks

A

Hi!

Normally i would suggest to create a Camera + Aim, but in this case, just add an Aim Constrain to your existing camera and adapt settings for Aim Vector.

(Create and use any object you want for Aim)

Hi sean:

For some reason I am not able to select a frame to create camera position (by clicking "s" key). Did I change something here? I was able to do it in the past. Also, how can I reset all selected key frames to start all over again?

thanks

Anil

Hi @Anonymous

Do you have an attribute selected that you are trying to key and/or does anything appear to be keyed when you press the 'S' key?

As for resetting your keys, you can select them all and delete them to restart or right click on the attributes that have been changed and select Delete Selected.

Hi Sean:

Now I am really confused. Please see my attached scene. I created path and camera but when I render, it only has single orientation in all 720 frames.  I have, by mistake, done something or clicked something. also, I am not able to select key frames by clicking "s".

Can you please send me screencast showing what I might have accidentally clicked.

thank you, sean.

Hi @Anonymous

I'm a bit confused by your issue. I just used Render Image sequence and made sure I had the camera set in the Render Settings and I was able to get a render of the camera moving around the objects. Can you please post screenshots or further explain your issue?

As for the keying issue, you can't key the camera once it has been set on the motion trail if that's what you're trying to do.

If that's not the case you may want to CTRL+Z until you can set keys again and/or try deleting your settings/preferences.

Hi Sean:

Under key option, what do I need to turn on in order that I see red bar on bottom key frame when "s" is clicked?

thanks

Hi!

Only keys of selected objects will be shown in main timeline.

Hi @Anonymous

@mspeer is correct about keying attributes.

As for setting the camera up, you need to open the Render Settings window and then scroll down to where it says Render Camera to:. By default this should be set to your persp camera but you can change it to the camera in your scene.

Hi Sean:

When I select an object and set up in my perspective window and click "s" on frame 1, the channel box with coordinates does not change to red and, also the red bar does not appear in time line below.

Thanks

A.

Hi @Anonymous

If you select the attributes by holding down shift and clicking on them then press the S key do the keys appear?

If not, you may want to try deleting your settings/preferences.
