Reference includes unwanted animation layer

Hi all,
I am having a bit of a headache. I work on a project with mocap applied to a rig which I am referencing in a scene to work on. I can edit the keys here but keep the file size low for every save I make and can add multiple rigs and props to build the scene. But when referencing, it always imports another BaseAnimation Layer. Now these layers are empty, and the controls of the rigs all only respond to 1 Base animation Layer, the original base layer from this working file. So these aditional base animation layers that come in from every reference are just useless, but they can not be deleted at all... What can I do to keep my scene clean and clear of these animation layers?

Going into the referenced file, deleting the layers, and reloading the reference should remove them from the final scene. If another team member supplied the rig, you will want to check with them and let them know you are making changes. They may have insight on why the layers are there, and if they make updates to the rig later, you don't want your working file to be incompatible with it.
