Maya crashes when adding a pose in pose editor

Hi,

I'm trying to add some pose space deformations in Maya 2019 on a model I've recently rigged and skinned. Everything fine so far but when I click on 'Add Pose' in the pose editor Maya crashes. I don't get an error message or anything else, Maya just closes immediately.
The rig has roll-joints for the arms and legs, I have another skinned version of the model without the roll-joints and when I tried to add poses in this scene it worked at first. After that I tried it again in the other scene and for a while Maya didn't crash but then I enabled one of the poses and it crashed again and now it's also not working in the scene without roll-joints anymore. I once managed to save the scene right after creating a pose before it crashed but when I open this scene, Maya crashes again after a few seconds.
The model doesn't have that many polys and the scene is not big as well.

Does anybody hava an idea why this is happening?

I ran into this issue at our company. In our case it was the result of a poseInterpolator retaining some of the data for a pose after being deleted. The solution for us was to write a script that queried all the data for all the poses. Requesting that information made the broken poses show up in the ui and from there we could delete them.

unfortunately I cannot share the script.

Mayas poseInterpolator is very buggy and is not at all user friendly. I wouldn't reccomend it unless you have no other options.

It's hard to say without having the scene to look at.  Could you post the scene, maybe with the geometry replaced with a stub?

FWIW, most of the crashes and corruption I used to see with the pose editor were fixed in either 2018 or 2019.  It still has some issues (it has trouble creating pose shapes with more complex rigs without workarounds, and mirroring poses just never works for me) but it's a lot more usable than when it was first released.  I wish they'd give it just a little more developer time to nail it down completely.

I am getting this same issue on Maya 2020.4

Unplugging my wacom tablet seems to make it work without crashing when I add a pose. Plugging the wacom back in and any touching of the control (not even with the pen - using a mouse to rotate) and boom, immediate crash!

Wacom model is Intuos BT M (model no: CTL-6100WL) running latest drivers (6.3.42-2) on windows 10 Pro 20H2, build 19042.804

I have also encountered a similar problem, it is very strange that the same version of Maya 2020.4 works in the company, but not at home.

Try to disable Hardware cache.
Today I noticed, that editing something in time editor and pose editor with enabled cache, crashes maya 2022.1

We've also experienced this problem and verified that if i uninstall the wacom driver that it'll help the pose editor not crash maya when adding a new pose.  (Maya 2020.4, Windows 10)

Disabling 'Cached Playback" doesn't help with crashing when the the adding a pose with the pose editor in Maya 2020.4.

Is that the enable/disabling 'caching' what you mean?  ie: "Cached Playback"

I've tried switching to view port to "legacy" and adding poses in pose editor seems to help.
