I am having issues creating simple chamfers. I've used both the chamfer tool path, and also the contour tool path, both with the same results.
No matter what I do, my chamfers are all at least .05" - huge!
I am commanding a .01" chamfer.
Tool is touched off on a Renishaw OTS.
Why are the chamfers coming out so **** huuuuge?
The cutter is a 4fl carbide 90 deg chamfer mill

Which exact version of HSMWorks are you using?
There could be a couple of things, you are adding another chamfer width to the already modeled chamfer. If the chamfer is modeled don't give in the chamfer width.
Also selecting the face might not be what you want but just the top contour.

What's odd is that it looks absolutely fine in the stock simulation
Also check your tool geometry. If your tip diameter (inside Fusion's tool library) is smaller than actual, you migh get these symptoms.
I am not trying to push.
However, are you 100% sure the tools are defined correctly.
More chamfer tools have a flat of the bottom of them. So, if in CAM that tool is defined as coming to a sharp point or with a smaller flat then is actually has when it is measured by the probe then tool will be cutting lower than expected.
Yes its defined correctly. It's a 45 deg, with a .02" flat.
Here is the latest one I did with using a zero and a zero in the contour. I am still getting a .05" x .05" chamfer.
Making junk. I am going to pull that tool and try something else - I just don't get it... Few weeks ago I made some steel parts and this thing worked 100% fine... Now it's not responding to any numbers I put in the box!!?!?! I've played with this all day so far and have done nothing but make junk.
that is odd... let us know what you find when you pull the tool.
Also, if you attached your file I will take a look. However, from the screenshot, it looks like the toolpath is in the correct spot.
suppress the chamfers and keep the corners sharp, the problem is the 2D chamfer is adding to the modeled chamfer.
I make configurations of the part in SW and then use HSMWorks in an assembly, that way you can drop the different configuration into the assembly and use the different states of the part to do different things or avoid holes, chamfers, rads or what ever for a cleaner way to control whats happening.
Honestly I did that first.... I had just the straight edge drawn in at first, and I was getting the exact same results... So I decided to try to draw it with the chamfer, still no difference... I watched youtube videos just to make for certain I wasn't doing something wrong.
No matter what numbers I put in, no matter if the chamfer is in the model or not, I am getting a .05 x .05 chamfer every single time.

Im not using cutter comp. It's zero and set to "in computer"
I just used a completely different tool, and got the exact same result...

In this example I suppressed the chamfer, and set the tool at 0 and 0. I used the contour line of the outline of the part itself.
In theory it should run the tool along but not cut anything correct?
I get the same .05 x .05 freaking chamfer!!!
WTF!! I've wasted like 30 parts so far trying to fix this...
If I'm doing something stupid please let me know... But honestly this is how I've done this using HSMWorks for like 10 years...never had an issue where it completely IGNORES what I put in the boxes.
I am stumped and cannot proceed unless I figure this stupid crap out.....
