Automated draft workflow

I'm fairly new to Inventor programming (work extensively in Solid Edge).  I've been creating work points in assembly that I use later to add dimensions on the draft.  I'm sure I could do the same thing with points in the drawing view, but i'd rather get the point from the geometry in the drawing view.  Is this possible/preferred in Inventor?  Using C# here.

What version of Inventor are you using?

In later editions you could use directly use Model dimensions here!
