How to change item number in BOM via API

Is that a Custom iProperty that is stored within your documents, or are you referring to item number?

Are you wanting to change the item number of just one part?
Are you wanting to renumber all of the parts?
Are you planning on changing it based off of something else?
When you get access to the BOMView object, it is pretty straight forward to grab item numbers.
