Is there any reason why I cannot utilize LOD on my Drawing by Creating Design Views, then simply Copying them to LOD?  Seems like nobody knows or understands this is a huge time, space saver.  You can always focus on your view but still get the Space saving with LOD.  With Model changes that need to reflect in my Drawing views, I simply Delete the bad LOD and RE-copy the updated View so the new LOD is identically named to one on Drawing.  When doing this, it seemingly keeps all balloons and dimensions.  The BOM appears to even keep any edits, except for "Fake lines" that were added in.  Has anyone else had success/ problems with this way?  It seems to me that Inventor was almost made to be used like this because it "Seems" to Love it.  Screencast coming soonly!

I think you are mistaken about the savings.

It's fine to use a view as an LOD in a drawing, but AS SOON AS YOU ADD a model reference that references the whole document (ie; a BOM or a view that isn't an LOD) inventor load ANOTHER WHOLE COPY of all of the model files.

Therefore, it doesn't really make sense to use LOD's in drawings if they have BOMS as well.

Agreed.  But, many companies institute the LOD ideology in their drawings to "save" RAM/graphics card memory by adding views with the LOD sepcified.  In my opinion LOD's are something that can always be defeated by better systems and therefore should only be used where the machine needs.
