Create a metal sheet ipart (folded/unfolded)

Hi all,

I want to create a metal sheet iPart where I would have 2 configurations:

1. Folded

2. Unfolded

Where is the property that I have to grab on the iPart author?

Thanks!

I.m not sure what you're goal is here, but a Flat palltern is always part of the sheetmetal component. When you create a ipart, you create different variants (new ipt files). But they are all individual parts with a folted model and flatpattern. So you can't include/exclude the flatpattern.

If you want a member to be presented as flat pattern, you should create a unfold and a refold feature. Next step is to add the refold feature from your suppression tab to the table. Now you are able to show the members in two different states.

Hi Theo,

thanks for your reply.

My metal sheet part is created in two steps (manufactured):

1. Bending process: modeled as 2 flanges

2. 45degress cutout: modeled as Cutout extrusion

I need to have 2 configurations:

1. the flat pattern without the cutout for the laser cutting. (DXF)

2. bent pattern with the cutout for the sawing.

For that, I need to create iPart where

1. Flat Pattern property is active and the cutout is suppressed.

2. Folded Model property is active and the cutout is active.

Just as an additional note. In R2022 you can also use the model states to do that. Simply create two model states, one where you Cut is active and an other where inactive. Notice that the flatpattern will be different depending on the state.
