Rename function during pack and go

Rename function during pack and go

Please update the Pack and Go feature to include the option to rename the files prior to placing them in a new location. I know that you can use the Copy feature under the Assemble tab and you can also use the Design Assistant but I don't find either of those options to be easy to use. It's very time consuming to copy and rename assemblies.

Grest idea! Also It would be great to have ability to use a find and replace function to change part of the file name string and replace It with something else.

Hello Friend,

Great idea . Yes, this feature is only available in Autodesk  Vault ( Copy Design Properties )

It would be nice to be in the pack and go command.

Best Regards,

Yep, I'm used to using SolidWorks and this feature is sorely missed.

I hope the guys at autodesk actually look at these threads! I really hope this feature could be implemented too.

same thing here, I'm used to work with solidworks, and it was included on the pack and go !

Four years since the first request here and still nothing? Absolutely ridiculous.

I was hoping to see that this was resolved, Copy design in Vault just doesn't quite cut it. Its also super slow to rename within Vault afterwards.

@Anonymous @Delete_Stub_mwong1HLGE8_4N2LJBFC3GW6 @pumpkinboss @laarouih @colin.ngNB7PC , it sounds that you understand that the "Save & Replace", "Copy" feature & Design Assistant can be used to get the individual part/assembly file done. Do you want to batch renaming the files using the file naming rule? What about iLogic copy design? Thanks!

That would be great Yijiang. Sometimes fabrication projects can have 100's or even 1000's of files with a common alphanumeric sequence that needs to be updated.

I miss this functionality having recently moved to a new company that uses Inventor, from SolidWorks.

@Yijiang.Cai I'm sure you guys at autodesk have a few copies of Solidworks to see how it differs from Inventor. Since almost everyone here has mentioned how they switched from Solidworks to Inventor and missed this feature, probably would be good to study how simple the operation is in Solidworks and consider implementing something similar in Inventor?

Many thanks for posting the idea to us, and tracked as [INVGEN-64278].

Is there any progress with adding this feature? I used it regularly with solidworks and would like to have the option with Inventor...

A sample workflow would be I have a box made from extruded aluminum tubing, but i want to make another box from the same parts but different lengths of tubing, so they have different part numbers.

vharrower_0-1678141157862.png

I want to make a copy of the assembly, i want to use the same corner brackets and screws, but i want all of the other parts to have new names so that i can change their lengths.

I want the assembly to maintain all of the existing references, just to my new parts.

Other CAD systems have a way to quickly do all of this in one window. You can uncheck the boxes for each line item that you don't want to copy
