Leader Alignment Snap is Annoying

Leader Alignment Snap is Annoying

This feature is annoying and doesn't seem to function as it was meant to. See the screencast.

Thanks.

Thank you for posting this. Here's a similar situation with the same annoying behavior. Any time the cursor is directly beneath the leader tip, the leader is collapsed into a straight line. If I actually let go and then try to drag the text again, things get even stranger.

This has frustrated me before and I really can't see any reason why this behavior is even there. I can't think of any situation where it would be useful. It's purely annoying and I hope it's recognized by Autodesk and fixed soon.

I guess I can see why someone might want to make a label like that. But the problem is, that type of label is what should happen if and only if:

  1. I manually drag my leader arrow down where it is at the end of my Screencast, so that I get the extended landing line.
  2. AND THEN I drag the text very close to the leader arrow.
  3. AND I don't have any additional vertices on my leader (i.e. there are no vertices between my leader text and the leader arrow).

If any of those three things aren't the case, then Inventor should not collapse my leader down to a single line like that.

This is very annoying, and I don't think I've ever seen a case where I would want it to behave this way.

Weld symbols are where I run into it the most, but as shown in the video from @DRoam, it can happen on other types of leaders as well.  Would love to see this fixed.
