Quick Color Scheme Change

Quick Color Scheme Change

Current Process to change Color Scheme:

In order to change the color scheme from when I am working on a part to when I want to take a screen shot or quick render for presentations or emails you need to go to the Tools ribbon, Options bar, Application Options button to open the Application Options window.

In the Application Options window select the Colors Tab and change the selected Color scheme  and under Background change the drop down selection. I tend to switch between "Winter Night" Color Scheme with a "Gradient" Background style and "Presentation" with "1 Color" for the Background. I change between these two since the darker background with "Gradient" helps when doing CAD work and sketches while the "Presentation" background with "1 color" is best for taking a screen shot of my progress for a quick presentation or email.

Requested New Process:

Rather than doing this long process for changing the Color scheme and Background I would like some quick toggle to change these. It would be nice if I had two saved schemes (Color scheme and background saved as one) that I could quickly toggle between. Either a shortkey I can press on my keyboard to cycle between my saved schemes or a button on the ribbon or in the option below the View cube.

I wish for this feature everytime I need to take a screenshot for a presentation or email

Yes this would be a very helpful option.  It could be included in the right mouse context menu

Yes to this. A keystroke combination would be ideal for me to switch between grey where I do my design work, and white for image export for presentations.

Also flagging interest in this feature. Constantly pulling screen-grabs out of inventor and I want a clean white background for those, but do value the easier-on-the-eye gradients for normal use and want to keep that ordinarily. Just want to be able to quickly toggle between the two when needed; and agree a keystroke combo would be the neatest and best option

Same here. Please make a simple toggle option!

Great idea, casting my vote of interest as well.

Please add a toggle button on the quick access toolbar to switch between current user background, standard black background and a white background.
This will be very helpful for screenshots and presentations.

Thanks.

i know it is not what you're looking for, but my college fixed it with the following Ilogic:

If ThisApplication.ColorSchemes.BackgroundType = 52738 Then
	ThisApplication.ColorSchemes.BackgroundType = 52737
Else
	ThisApplication.ColorSchemes.BackgroundType = 52738
End If

maybe it helps in the short run for you.

i use it alot for screenshots 🙂

I use CoolOrange Screengrab app/add-in for this. Just an FYI to the OP (and others) if weren't aware an app exists for it. You can make it compatible with any version of Inventor with a simple text edit, so don't worry if it shows it isn't compatible.

Agree, i miss the same function. For screenshots for emails and even more for printing, it's a waste of ink to print a dark background.

Can you find a list of what the different numbers represent?

On my machine it only gave me same color, but gradient. Not usable.

EDIT: I found this, it does what I want:

    If (ThisApplication.ColorSchemes.BackgroundType = 52737) Then
        ThisApplication.ColorSchemes.Item("Millennium").Activate
        ThisApplication.ColorSchemes.BackgroundType = BackgroundTypeEnum.kImageBackgroundType
    Else
        ThisApplication.ColorSchemes.Item("Presentation").Activate
        ThisApplication.ColorSchemes.BackgroundType = 52737
    End If
