Option to Control View Depth on Standard Placed Views

Option to Control View Depth on Standard Placed Views

Would love to have an option when placing starting drawing views that allows me to establish a view depth of a view as to not show items in the distance as that view has depth into the sheet.  Setting the view depth could maybe phantom anything beyond that set depth???

If an assembly has a length of say 20 feet, I may not want to show items at the far end of the assembly when looking at the desired end's view.

Not referring to using a section or cut views.

This could be toggled on or off as desired.  If you wish to keep the view full depth, no problem...leave it unchecked (Inventor default).  If you only want to view a certain depth to hide (or phantom) all of the background items, toggle it on and choose a depth you want shown.

Additionally, the standard projected views could be treated the same as the first placed view.

Great idea! I get around it by placing the view as a section view and control the depth that way.

I design rail car sets.  Leveraging view depth might improve drawing view calculation times...

Thanks gm & swalton.  I, too, see great benefit to my request, but unfortunately, 9 votes in 12 days is the territory where good ideas go to die in the Idea Station...

Hi,

i would like to have an option / possibility to choose a view depth for each part in an assembly separatly.
And this should not olny possible in base views but also in section views.

This will be very useful for us. We have very details models, so in a section view with th hole view depth we see too much. But for some parts it is necessary to see them in the whole depth and other parts only in the section plane.

See this idea:
Option to Control View Depth on section views individual for different parts of Assemblies - Autodes...

please vote!

Thanks
