Inventor Read Only and STEP format

Hello,

it would be nice if "inventor read only" could read the STEP format. It would be even better if he could convert it like "DWG True view" with DXF Format.

It would be VERY nice if  "Inventor - read only" could open ALL the  supported 2D/3D formats.

It won't break the read-only philosophy and will be very helpful to all those who don't need to actually modify, but only open & check the files they receive and then send them to the designers... I really hope to see this in future!

"converting" would be probably against the Read-Only philosophy, but competing products (as for example eDrawings) offer the possibility to open and view STEPs and other 3D formats. The idea as formulated by LStradi8 should be definitely pursued by Autodesk. Thumbs UP

to open step files we are using additional program:  "eDrawings 2017"  thats easy but its an add program on the laptop.

I also think a Read Only program should be able to only read different CAD formats.

I can understand that converting to an Inventor format would conflict with the read only philosophy.

That's why at least the read only possibility should be there.

It's already available as a free tool in the Autodesk Viewer, so why not add it here.

We're also forced to use the competitors software eDrawings, just because Autodesk doesn't support this...

please allow inventor read only to view step files

we currently use dss product to do this.
