This really a shout out to get the constraint dialog modernized and functionality added. I would say the constraint dialog is the worst as it’s used constantly daily and has a lot of restrictions and missing functionality that is very frustrating. Other that I would like to see modernized and functionality added are derive dialog Overhaul Derive Dialog - Autodesk Community and the parameters dialog Parameters Dialog overhaul - Autodesk Community but would put the constraint dialog at the top of my list to overhaul.
- When the dialog is open allow the assembly mode/ modelling mode to be switched currently it does not update as I need to access workfeatures from derived components switch between assembly and modeling mode whilst the constraint dialog is open - Autodesk Community or having a combined mode which i would opt to do as I want to see both modeling and constraints under the component at the same time assembly and modeling combined mode - Autodesk Community
- Being able to find in browser and move while the dialog is open. when the constraint dialog is open it is not clear which instance is which in order to get to the desired work features (without setting up the browser prior). There is pick part first which does allow mouse over of parts within graphics window and browser but the chosen part does not stay highlighted on the browser nor is there a find in browser option within the graphics window. I end up closing the dialog collapsing everything except the desired components then opening the dialog again not very productive
- Being able to insert multiple instances so for example make first selection on component then make second section then able to make second selection again inserting another instance of component with previously selected first selection. - Mate Path constraint being able to constrain to a workpoint from one component to a spline from another for example new point on curve/edge constraint - Autodesk Community
- Mate to curved surface being able to constrain to a workpoint from one component to a curved surface from another for example Assembly constrain part work point to part surface - Autodesk Community
A shout out to some constraint ideas not related to the dialog itself
- When fixing multiple sick constraints if you correct a constraint the assembly cannot be solved dialog still pops up
- Facility to fix broken constraints so for example if you replace multiple fasteners and the constraints become sick there should be a facility to fix them all in one hit.
- Show sick constraints on the browser next to the components
- Being able to open all components with sick constraints from design doctor
- Copy/paste components with constraints so when coping pasting within an assembly it would take the constraints so one half would have the same selection as the original occurrence the other would be the newly pasted occurrences. As there are cases where the constraints are the same except for one for example which you could edit after the paste.
- When demoting an assembly for example with constraints to the origin these constraints are not carried over to the new assembly instead these are at the upper level where it can now have multiple of the same constraint where most of these are now redundant. It also grounds the first occurrence which is not desired and does not use the view rep from the selected components.
- Being able to associate constraints to another occurrence. So for example if you copy some components from another assembly that are constrained to a skeleton you copy with the skeleton in order to capture the constraints as well but in the pasted assembly it already contains the same skeleton would be good to re-associate these constraints to the first occurrence to remove the redundant occurrence.
