Unique vs descriptive filenames

I'd like to use a file numbering add in to provide a unique files name but also see a descriptive name in the browser.

' Rename Browser' shows three options, is Filename the same as Default with the file extension added?

Hello @andrew_canfield,

So, I've never used this function until I saw your post, but I think I might have fumbled my way through this. In the first picture, Filename is what you save your original component files as (circled in blue), and the default will be whatever you name the part in your model browser (circled in red).

The part number can be changed in your BOM structure within your assembly, which can be seen in picture 2.

With all of that changed, you can now select how you want your components in your assembly browser to look. You can see them by the original file name, part number, or the default name that you gave the part within its model browser. See pictures 3, 4, and 5.

Does this help at all?
