To Create Custom profile Part

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a way to have a custom part with a form.

I've defined "Length" in the parameters and was able to "spawn" a form when inserting the part.

But I can only do this once in my assembly. when trying to import the same part it no longer gives me the form to adjust the length size.

Is there a way that I can keep inserting the same file but adjust the length?

for specifics: I would need to be able to make this profile at a max lenght of 3000mm but I also need to be able to go 2 numbers behind the comma(,01-0,99)

I really hope there's a simple and easy way because making an Ipart would suggest it creates 300.000 parts.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

Each part needs to have its own unique file name..  You are just placing copies of the same file in.  Does your ilogic code create new file names based on the length parameter?  Also you can just create a custom iPart..  One member, assign the length column in your ipart table as custom.

Hi man,

Thanks for you quick response. Fact is I don't know how to do either of those options. Guess I'll have some digging to do to find a decent solution.

Here's a training session on advanced ipart functions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIcn601F6TQ

@Curtis_Waguespack will most likely have some iLogic code for you if you go the ilogic route and need to name each file.

Using "Place iLogic Component" also lets you change parameters during placement and creates a new file. However, the naming format is stuck to partnumber-XX, and it won't search for an identically created part if it exists already.

Hello @Anonymous are you familiar with how to turn on the iLogic Browser and add named parameters to a Form?

iLogicForm.png

Are you sold on using iParts or would you be able to create a parametric model that can stretch to any size?

Hope that helps!

@Anonymous were you able to get your part design using parametric modeling or did you figure out how to use iParts or iLogic?

If you want to post your parts using Pack & Go as .zip that would be helpful in giving more direction.
